Housing demand rises by a third and reaches the highest level in 16 years!

Posted on Friday, November 13, 2020

Despite a challenging and unpredictable 2020 so far, the property market appears to be stronger than ever, with demand from prospective buyers soaring in quarter three to reach record-breaking levels — the highest since June 2004!

The report, published by the National Association of Estate Agents, also showed the number of property sales agreed per estate agent branch stood at 14 in September — the highest figure recorded since August 2006, and a surge from the 12 sales agreed per branch in August this year.

This recent period tends to be a busy time for Applegate every year, as buyers and sellers are keen to be settled into their new homes in time for the festive season. Add to this a determination to secure purchases before the end of the stamp duty holiday — on 31st March 2021 — and we witness a significant rise in demand.

Amy Wray, our managing director said: “There’s no denying that this year has been tough. But, as we continue to receive a fantastic response to all properties going live, welcome two new recruits to the Applegate family, and make exciting plans for the coming months, I’m feeling optimistic about what lies ahead.”
