Carr House, Kirklees Hall, Brighouse, Huddersfield, HD6 4HD
£2,300pcm

Kirklees Hall is a superior Grade I listed building that has been sympathetically renovated  during the 1990's to create a select few, grand yet comfortable homes set in large, well maintained grounds. Carr House is a five bedroom property situated within this prestigious country house estate and has the advantage of countryside living with local motorway access as well as beautiful period features throughout and a fascinating history.

Set over three levels this property briefly comprises: Grand entrance hall with double 'flying' staircase by Carr of York (one of the Country's most highly regarded Georgian architects), large drawing/living room with oak panels, grand dining room and high quality dining kitchen. To the first floor there is a double bedroom with additional children's bedroom/dressing room off, further double bedroom with long distance views and large master bedroom which is currently used as living area. There are two bathrooms and guest suite to the lower ground with two bedrooms, bathroom including sauna with additional store rooms and cellar.

Kirklees Hall was built in the 16th Century by Sir Thomas Gargrave and then bought by the Armytage family shortly after. The foundations on the original hall (Carr House) were taken from the old Kirklees Priory, which stood only 100 meters from the hall, and was demolished by Cromwell during the Protestant/Catholic turmoil. There is evidence that Charlotte Bronte frequently visited Kirklees Hall, and the hall is mentioned in some of her books. In the grounds of Kirklees Hall estate is the grave of Robin Hood. It is said that his Aunt was the prioress of the priory and was known for her healing powers by way of blood letting.
