A onesie walk around Holmfirth

6th Dec, 2016

Two weeks ago our managing director Amy Wray went for a stroll around Holmfirth, wearing her onesie!

And no, she’s not going mad! It was all to raise money for gifts for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice to hand out this Christmas.

Last month, we racked our brains for fundraising ideas, and decided that Amy needed to get out of her business suit, and into more ‘relaxed’ attire – something we thought a lot of people would pay to see!

She agreed, but only if we raised £500 in the process. So, we set to work, roping in everyone we could think of, to donate and share on social media.

And our efforts paid off – we raised over £700 in total, meaning that Amy had to parade around HD9 in her onesie. But that wasn’t all! She then went along to the last 99er networking event of the year at the John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield, to present the generous donations to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice team.

Commenting on the day, Amy said: “It was a really fun way to raise money for the charity. Christmas is a time to think about others who may be less fortunate than you, so we thought it was really important to try to provide gifts for the children.

“Hopefully it will show them and their families that we are thinking of them, at one of the most difficult times in their lives.”

Plus, the Applegate Properties’ 'Apples' did not entirely get off scot-free! We also modelled our finest onesies around the office, to show our support to Amy.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports children with life shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire. Each year, the charity costs £3.8 million in running costs, and they receive less than 6% of that from Government funding, meaning that it relies heavily on community support.
