Applegate Properties support vulnerable women of Huddersfield

26th Nov, 2019

Amy and her colleagues have worked with the team at Living Well for several years but – in readiness for Christmas – this year they are pushing the boat out to help raise much-needed funds to enable the continuation of the good work.

Living Well is an initiative run by Elm Pentecostal Church which aims to provide support to women and girls on the streets of Huddersfield. The group of volunteers work tirelessly to help those who need assistance – some of which are being sexually exploited through human trafficking. Living Well also support the town and those who have found themselves homeless and Applegate Properties believe that everyone deserves a safe place to live.

How can I help?

As Christmas approaches, Applegate properties will once again provide Living Well with an annual Christmas parcel, full of essential items. The team at Applegate bring items into the office, which are then collected by Pam – a volunteer at Living Well. Donations also include refreshments, various types of clothes and essential toiletries. It doesn’t stop there – a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, advice or even a signpost to relevant agencies that may be able to help make all the difference.

Some of the women helped by Living Well have been subjected to childhood abuse and as a result have become addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. Therefore, offering an escape route – via access to the police and other agencies or charities – is invaluable.

Amy Wray commented: “I will be spending Christmas Day with my family in a room that will no doubt end up being too hot from the open fire and we’ll need to open the front door to cool down! Between us, we’ll be spoilt with food, drink and gifts.

“Over the Christmas period, I urge you to be thankful for your health, happiness, family and friends and remember those who don’t have those luxuries – they’re closer than you might think. If you can give anything to help this worthy cause, then please do – people in Huddersfield need you!

We will be contacting our business network and requesting donations to provide warm clothing, underwear and other essential items for ladies. We will then review donated items and any remaining funds will be allocated to the most appropriate items needed by Living Well.”
