Colour Run For Forget Me Not!

Colour Run For Forget Me Not!

23rd May, 2016

Lucy Burnett, events manager at the hospice said it was anticipated that an incredible £30,000 would be raised from the 3km run. With just 6% of funding coming from Government the charity constantly needs to raise funds and needs over a colossal £3.8m every year to ensure children and families get the support they need.

The weather was not kind but it failed to dampen the spirits of those taking part who took the bursts of heavy rain in their stride. Those taking part were gently peppered with powdered paint of all colours of the rainbow.

One of those taking part in the run was John Sykes, director of Farnley Estates. Afterwards, he said: “We have never had this many people on the estate before.

“They have been running across parts of the estate which have not been tramped over since the 19th century.“Hopefully this event will be the first of many and will become something that happens annually. “It’s been a wonderful day, a lot of money has been raised and I’m delighted to have been part of it.”

Lucy said: “The Colour Run was a fantastic event for the whole family to get involved in and we have had everyone from dads running round with their babes in arms to someone who was 72-years-old. It’s an event which appears to have captured people’s imagination."
