Meeting our senior lettings advisor, Laura Simpson!

19th Sep, 2017

Name:  Laura Simpson
Job title: Senior Lettings Advisor

How long have you worked at Applegate Properties?
3 years as of this September!

What does your role involve?
I work with both landlords and prospective tenants, to secure the property that the occupant has applied for. From the viewing stage, to applying for the property, to sending out all legal documentation and moving them in on the day – I am there to help every step of the way. I also oversee all housing maintenance and repairs for managed rental properties, check out’s and general tenant enquiries.

What’s the best part about your job?
I love the whole process of following through with a tenant, from the property viewing to moving them in – it is very rewarding!

What’s your favourite property that Applegate has let within the past 12 months?
There have been so many that are all special in their own way – I can’t choose just one!

Tell us your biggest work achievement since starting with Applegate
Surprisingly, I’ve really enjoyed learning practical handyman and maintenance skills, like how to operate and read a boiler! This is something I never knew how to do before I started at Applegate.

Describe Applegate in three words
Proactive, friendly & reliable!

What makes Applegate different to other estate agencies?
Our emphasis on great customer service – when we say we’ll phone you back, we will!

What’s your top tip for selling/letting a home?
To keep your property as neutral as possible. Tenants like to put their own stamp on things, and having a blank canvas means it’s easier for them to see how they’d make it their own. I have found that properties that are very ‘out there’ with their decoration, can sometimes take longer to let.

Tell us your favourite Holmfirth haunt
The Postcard – I love a good singalong at the Friday night karaoke!

Which one word would your colleagues use to describe you?
‘Jolly’ … apparently!
