New Year, new décor

New Year, new décor

5th Jan, 2018

The New Year usually prompts an abundance of resolutions and other ‘new me’ goals – so for 2018, why not turn your attention to your home?

It may be that your house deserves to be revitalised, is outdated or you just fancy a change. Whatever your reasoning, check out these decoration trends that are hot for the year ahead…

1.Black and white

It appears that in the new year, this classic combination will still be going strong. These neutral colours go with pretty much anything, so it is so easy to incorporate them throughout your home décor.

2.Bold floral prints

Contrasting flowery patterns can bring an explosion of colour to any room. If you opt for neutral shades, a singular piece of furniture covered in a funky floral pattern is a great way to liven up a room, whilst creating a bold statement.

This may be a new term for many of us – it is the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection. In home design, this translates to handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces, which can result in a deeply personal and organic aesthetic. This can include anything from rough linens, to hand-crafted plates and mugs.

4.Statement storage

2018 is a year of statements in interior design, and even the most functional furniture will be influenced by this trend. Add a touch of flair and creativity to any room with a vintage or striking storage unit – both practical and beautiful!

5.Shapely furniture

Couches will take a cue from the 70’s this year, with quirky curves! So, why not replace your old sofa with a new one that is bound to liven up any room?

6.Jewel tones and velvet

Autumn and winter are all about dark, cosy, warm shades, and the first few months of 2018 will be no different. Colour specialist Pantone named Ultra Violet its shade of the year, whilst Sherwin Williams is championing Emerald Green. Combined with velvet, these rich tones will produce the perfect atmosphere in your home.

We hope that these tips will help you to create a fresh ambience in your property this new year!
