Spring clean

Spring clean

23rd Mar, 2018

It’s almost time to tackle the annual tidying ritual – the spring clean!

So fluff your duster, swoosh your mop and scrub energetically to remove all of the dust, cobwebs and grime which come along with winter, to spritz up your home ready for a new season. This can be a laborious task for many people, but it doesn’t need to be a chore – follow these simple tips to make this process easier and more enjoyable…

Stock up

Before you tackle the big clean make sure you are well prepared with cleaning utensils and products. You don’t want to have to break off to replace or buy something – if you have everything you need in one place it will make the task much easier.

Be realistic

It is really easy to overwhelm yourself and want to clean the whole house all at once. But you will quickly realise it is a mountain of a task – so breaking it up into manageable zones or rooms will make it seem less daunting, as well as the chore being over quicker!

Pick up clutter

Before attempting to clean any room, make sure you have cleared away any unnecessary objects from the surfaces. They will only become extra obstacles to clean around, on top of and under – don’t create more work for yourself!

Clear out

This is the perfect time to go through any cupboards and drawers to throw out any items that have piled up and begun to gather dust. Over the winter months this is something that tends to happen – especially with food and drink – so have a good rummage and remove any outdated objects.

Make microfibre your friend

Try using a microfibre cloth when cleaning – once you have tried one, we doubt you’ll use anything else! They can hold up to 4-7 times their weight in water, can be rewashed, and will clean almost all surfaces with just water – saving you both time and money.

Use the power of herbs

Instead of opting to clean your property with chemicals and toxins – such as bleach – think about using natural homemade products. Vinegar, baking soda and lemon are great natural detergents – and you can even add your own choice of herbs to make your home smell natural and fresh.

We hope these tips will help you to tackle this annual mammoth job. Opening the door to a beautifully smelling and clean house is the perfect thing to come home to after a long hard day – so the work is worth it!
