Summer in Holmfirth—top 5 things to do

16th Aug, 2019

We love Holmfirth - and not just because it's the home to our HQ - for the wonderful scenery, delicious places to eat and the hundreds of things to do!

We have therefore compiled our top five favourite things to see and do this summer...

Smallshaw Farm Cottages & Spa

With five-star gold luxury cottage accommodation and a relaxing, tranquil thermal spa and treatments rooms, Smallshaw's Farm is at the top of our list of 'go to' places in the area. The outdoor hot tub, beautifully kept gardens and barbeque house set the scene for a wonderful weekend break in the countryside.

David Brown Tractor Club

David Brown's involvement in farm machinery began in 1936, and they began building the Ferguson-Brown model - the world's first production tractor to be equipped with hydraulic lift and converging three-point linkage. And now, almost 80 years later you can visit the museum to see the club's growing collection of machinery, making it a great family day out!

Originally, the Picturedrome was known as the Holme Valley Theatre, and was opened on Easter Monday, March 1st 1913. Now the venue is home to live entertainment, including football games and singers. With a wide range of performers on the agenda, there is bound to be something for everyone to enjoy, so take a look at what's coming up.

Black Hill

The highest point in the historic county of Cheshire, Black Hill is exactly what it says on the tin, a hill in the Peak District. Reaching to a staggering 582 meters above sea level, this isn't a trek for the faint-hearted. But, if you're looking for a challenging walk on a wonderful summer Sunday afternoon, this one is for you!

Totties Garden Centre

Now, our list wouldn't be complete without somewhere to eat! Totties is the home to a wonderful garden centre, as well as the Olive Tree Bistro Café.
Peruse beautiful plants and flowers for your outdoor space, and then head inside to enjoy the delicious home cooked food - made using fresh, local produce. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea you're after, there's something for everyone!

Whether you live in Holmfirth, passing through, or here for a brief stay, make sure you stop by at least one of places we've listed above -- you won't be disappointed.
