This is the season to sell your property off-market

17th Jan, 2019

We have previously written a blog on when the best time to sell your property is, and although spring is a great time, we think there is no harm in getting ready now!

There are some advantages to selling your home off-market…

Daylight hours are a lot shorter, the weather is cold, dark and gloomy, and houses looks a lot less appealing than they did in the summer months – so why would you want to try sell up at the moment?

A quick online search will tell you that there has been a limited supply of properties for sale in autumn and winter. Therefore, it can be argued that you’ll have a lot less competition if you decide to put your home on the market now, and you’ll be ahead of those who are holding back for spring.

Whether it’s the uncertainty of Brexit preventing you from selling, or because your garden will look better when the weather improves, they’re really moot points.

There is an increasing number of potential buyers who are frustrated with the lack of choice available to them. And if they have a property to put on the market, but can’t find what they want, they are similarly not going to market either!

So how will this impasse be broken?

It’s a topic we are all sick of hearing about, but the drawn-out nature of Brexit is proving to be a barrier for many potential sellers. It’s likely that there will be a burst of activity afterwards, but if you don’t want to wait until then there are a few simple solutions.

Make sure estate agents in your area are aware of your requirements and what you’re looking for. With the increase of discreet marketing, there is a strong chance that they will know of individuals who are willing to buy and sell now.

Just because there are no leaves on the trees, doesn’t mean a property is worth less than when a garden is in full bloom. If you have fantastic views from your home and it’s shrouded in cloud, a selection of summer photos will show the interested buyer what they have to look forward to.

Quite simply, you don’t have to wait for the weather to improve to get the best value for your home – so why not get ahead of the game and sell up now!
