Yorkshire Day Tea Party

Yorkshire Day Tea Party

29th Jul, 2016

On Friday 5th August from 12 noon to 6pm, Applegate Properties will be holding a tea party for Yorkshire Day! This is an opportunity for you to come along and meet the team here at Applegate and visit our modern office in the heart of Holmfirth.

We’ll be raising money for a fantastic charity based in Huddersfield, the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. Forget Me Not supports children with life shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire. The hospice provides care for children with the aim of promoting their happiness and a sense of fulfilment so they can enjoy their lives, no matter how long or short. Emotional and practical support is given to parents and siblings, both while they are caring for their child and often for years afterwards. Forget Me Not needs to raise £3.8 million each year to continue to offer their excellent, vital service to the children and families of West Yorkshire.

Yorkshire is England’s largest county. Its boundary, over 600 miles long, was established more than 1100 years ago. Officially, Yorkshire Day happens on the 1st of August each year. The inaugural Yorkshire Day in 1975 was set up by The Yorkshire Ridings Society to ‘celebrate everything Yorkshire, but especially the integrity of the county.’ This year, Halifax will host the main regional festivities, including a parade and special services at the minster, plus craft groups and readings at libraries in the area. The highlight of the day will be a 200 strong parade beginning at 10am at Halifax Town Hall, travelling through the town centre to the minster for an 11am service.

As a proud, local business, we’re delighted to honour all things Yorkshire with an informal get together at Applegate. There will be tea, cake and even a quiz, so get your Yorkshire thinking caps on!
