How city living has lost its appeal during the pandemic

Posted on Friday, April 30, 2021

Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, we’ve noticed a significant rise in homeowners upping sticks and relocating to the country, in favour of a quieter, more rural setting.

Possibly as a result of being cooped up indoors over the past year, a newfound focus on remote working, access to more affordable property options, or simply a desire for roaming countryside right on your doorstep.

June and July last year saw a dramatic 78% surge in Rightmove enquiries from buyers living in cities, with a 126% increase in searches of more peaceful, village locations.

Amy Wray, our managing director said: “With an abundance of breath-taking scenery around us, it comes as no surprise that we’re being flooded with enquiries from ex-city dwellers seeking the country lifestyle.”

With plenty of stunning properties entering the market each week, the Applegate team will be delighted to help find the perfect match for you.
