Yorkshire’s choice — Faye Robinson Interiors and Robinson King Joinery

Posted on Thursday, June 30, 2022

Here in Yorkshire, we’re graced with some of the most breath-taking scenery in the country, and within the landscape are some fantastic, quirky, and soulful businesses – which we love!

So, we decided to dedicate a blog series to the companies that are at the heart and soul of the area, so you can find out a little more about them.

Up next we hear from Faye Robinson-Hey, interior designer, owner of Faye Robinson Interiors, and design director at Robinson King Joinery.

Sum up your business in 100 words…

Faye Robinson Interiors is an interior design company that works both in partnership with Robinson King Joinery and independently, offering a tailored premium interior design service to both residential and commercial clients.

Robinson King is a bespoke joinery company based in West Yorkshire — crafting various architectural and cabinetry joinery, from sash windows to fitted furniture.

We work on projects of varying scopes and sizes, helping our clients achieve their dream interiors from concept to completion. We work up and down the country — as well as offering a remote interior design service. Current projects range from grade-two listed house renovations through to contemporary remodels and smaller room projects. As we have joinery and all related trades in-house, we can offer an entire interior package, or we can produce design schemes for clients to implement themselves.

Tell us about your team…

Robinson King is family run. Our lead joiner and director, Oliver King, has decades of experience in bench joinery and can turn his hand to most projects. The other company director, Terry Robinson, takes charge of our oak frame extension division, and is also a project manager. We have joiners and an in-house sprayer who are based at our workshop in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

I run the business admin and am also lead designer for Faye Robinson Interiors — working with various suppliers and trade companies. I have over a decade of experience working within the high-end residential and commercial hospitality design sector and hold a degree in Interior Architecture.

What makes Robinson King & Faye Robinson Interiors special?

As we offer bespoke joinery and interior design, we can provide these two services independently from each other or combine to offer our clients a truly unique, fully rounded and economical service. Faye Robinson Interiors offers a flexible package which is client-led, and project based. We take a holistic approach to interior design. Where a traditional interior designer may look at the decorative finishes, curtains, and colours, they may not always consider the more detailed elements which hold a space together and underpin the foundations. We don’t look at things in isolation, we assess the whole story and make sure the particulars make sense.

What’s your biggest business achievement to date?

The team worked on The Manor House Lindley hotel — a restoration and new build project which our director, Terry, was heavily involved with, seeing it transformed from the original dilapidated building to the beautiful 5-star establishment it is now. We won a joint Northern Design award for ‘best hotel interior’. Faye Robinson Interiors was also a finalist for last year’s Northern Design Awards for our commercial project, Fire and Ice — a wellness centre based in Ilkley in which we carried out a full interior design, joinery, and project management.

How long have you been based in Yorkshire?

We have a workshop and office based in the heart of West Yorkshire and have been there for the past 6 years.

And, what’s your favourite thing about the county?

As well as the stunning landscape and beautiful properties we get to work on, we also always have lovely Yorkshire clients — the people in this county are always well humoured, friendly, and welcoming.

When you’re not hard at work, what’s the one place you love to visit in Yorkshire?

We’ve always loved York. Terry had a boutique hotel there a few years ago and Faye got married at The Hospitium Gardens, in the city centre. It’s such a beautiful place with period charm, lots of interiors inspiration, and the restaurant and bars are great for a weekend away too!
