Meet the team: Paul Turner

Posted on Wednesday, July 28, 2021

Here at Applegate Properties, we pride ourselves on being a traditional estate agency with a ‘modern’ twist – achieved thanks to our amazing team.

Each month, we want to shine the spotlight on a different member of staff, to find out a little bit more about what makes them tick!

Next up, it’s our head valuer, Paul Turner…

How long have you worked at Applegate Properties?

It was my three-year anniversary just a few weeks ago!

What does your role involve?

My role is extremely varied but I mostly deal with valuations, sales and letting appraisals, putting properties on the market, managing our sales team, and overseeing daily operations at Applegate HQ.

What’s the best part about your job?
Meeting new people — I like to be out and about and don’t think I’d fare well if I was based in the office all day, every day. I also enjoy seeing beautiful homes and helping to make them as marketable as possible.

What’s your favourite property that Applegate has sold within the past 12 months?

It’s got to be Holme Castle, an enormous property with bags of character — it was used as a hotel for many years and it would be great to see it open its doors for check-in again in the future.

Tell us your biggest work achievement since starting with Applegate
I’ve really enjoyed helping to grow Applegate’s reputation in the area and receiving positive feedback from clients which reaffirms that we’re doing a good job. Plus, getting a lock on the toilet door!

Describe Applegate in three words
Friendly, professional, and caring.

What makes Applegate different to other estate agencies?
We genuinely care and have passion for what we do.

What’s your top tip for selling/letting a home?

Honesty. Be clear to us about what you want, so we can then be honest — highlighting the positives, and helping you deal with the negatives.

Tell us your favourite Holmfirth haunt

Lou and Joe’s Burgers — really tasty food within a relaxed atmosphere.

Which one word would your colleagues use to describe you?
I’d hope ‘approachable’.

Sound like your kind of people?
Then we would love to hear from you.
