What do you do at OGS Walling?
I undertake a variety of walling services from simple wall repairs to large landscaping projects, as well as more bespoke such as outdoor kitchens and firepit areas. All using the purposeful yet beautiful material that is stone. Nothing is more important to me than customer satisfaction and ensuring you achieve your vision for your garden project.
Using my extensive experience I will work with you to form a plan that best suits the criteria desired and also make suggestions as to how to utilise your garden space.
Tell us more about you Oliver…..
My name is Oliver and I was born in Huddersfield. Growing up in Yorkshire I have always loved the outdoors and being involved in various sports such as football, golf and skiing - though have to travel a bit further afield for that last one! I have taken what I’d consider an unorthodox route into drystone walling in that I spent 3 years studying a maths degree. This was followed by 3 years of travel including a period living in Australia which is where I worked for a stonemason and started my journey in stone wall building.
Since returning to the UK I have developed my skills and set up OGS Walling so I can do what I love and build drystone walls and features in my home county. There’s nowhere better!
You’re photos of garden kitchens are amazing on Facebook Oliver, is this your speciality?
OGS Walling is unique as I am capable of such a variety of bespoke projects and features. Stone can be shaped and built into almost any shape and I love to get creative! From styled steps, floating outdoor kitchen worktops or feature stone initials built into your firepit seats, I can make you something you can look at and say ‘no one else has one of these’. Furthermore being a very small business it allows me to add a personal touch to all my projects.
What do you deem your biggest achievement to date?
The biggest achievement of OGS Walling is that I started a business during Covid and have successfully established a share of the market despite that challenging time and myriad of issues associated with the pandemic.
How long has OGS been going?
I have been trading for close to 4 years now, and hopefully many more to come!
What is your favourite thing about living and working in Yorkshire?
My favourite thing about living in Yorkshire (not including the walls!) is the fact that a walk amongst the fields, forests and rivers, followed by a great pub lunch and pint, is right on our doorstep. I wouldn’t want it any other way!
What does Oliver do outside of work?
Out of work there are plenty of places I love to go but the main thing is that it is time spent with family and friends!
